As you know from my past Gianna’s Gems, I've used conversation cards everywhere - corporate events, team offsites, family dinners, date nights, birthday parties, you name it. Every time, the same thing happens: people put their phones down, lean in, engage, and the conversation goes somewhere different and might I say…delightful.
So to accompany my upcoming TED Talk in 2027, “Your Life is The Event, Make Sure it’s Worth Attending”, I decided to create my own set: Conversation Gems. These color-coded cards designed for specific situations to spark the kind of conversations you actually remember, wherever you are and whoever you're with.
Whether you're meeting someone new or catching up with someone you've known forever, these cards help you skip the small talk and get straight to the good stuff. Shuffle and pick at random, let each person choose their own card, or flip through until one catches your eye - there's no wrong way to use them. Each card is color-coded by theme on the back, so you can always find the right question for the moment.
There are two decks to choose from:
Deck 1 - Spark Serendipity & Good Stories (60 cards)
For meeting someone new, breaking the ice, telling a great story, or keeping dinner conversation going.
Deck 2 - Deeper Connection, Surprise & Delight (50 cards)

I keep a deck in my bag for dinners and parties, and another in my carry-on for flights. I’ve found some of the best conversations happen when you least expect them, and I wanted these cards to be ready for that. Heck, sometimes I even sign my name on them and they make a memorable takeaway that’s more unique than a traditional business card.
